Here is my 2 cents on the food. I order the kung pow beef. POW it was extra spicy the way I wanted and ask for. Plus hot oil on the side. They food was terriffic. Fresh and quality items. The hot & sour soup was good. A clear yet thick broth done to perfection. I was a happy trooper today. Chit Chat. This is one of the best chinese eatery in the Cape. The surrounding were beautiful. The service was excellent. The staff did a wonderful job.. A bit more in price but the quality and service makes up for it. They have a card spend basically $100.00 get a free meal. Which I can see doing easily. I was here at 1130 AM on monday. So for good food in a charming surroundings give them a try.

Knocking a star off for abrupt, mediocre service. Although they offer a couple of subgum dishes on the menu, I asked if they had chicken subgum. It was my dad's favorite Chinese entree. Waiter said no. I've been to other Chinese restaurants where they are more willing to accommodate requests. Apparently, not here. I ordered my dad the next closest thing, chicken and vegetables. I had the Kung Pao Tofu and an egg roll. Service aside, the food here is outstanding! Fresh ingredients, tasty sauces, good quality poultry. My only complaint about the food would be that the wonton in the wonton soup is too thick and doughy. Wontons should be thinner and lighter. The wontons here are heavy, and only two wontons in a small bowl of soup! The broth, and the wonton filling, is excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Restaurant atmosphere is nice. I've eaten at a couple of other Chinese restaurants in the area and this one is my favorite.

Best Chinese food that I have had in Cape Coral, Fl. Equal to Chinese food in Chicago's Chinatown. Love the fried dumpling appetizer and the entress were spot on. Will be back on our next trip. They have a frequent diner coupon worth $10.00.

Went here while visiting my boyfriend's parents and found the food a bit disappointing. Their pork fried rice did not have any veggies in it and I think I saw a total of three pieces of pork. My main dish was simple chicken and broccoli where I found the brown sauce to be too sweet.

Good food and nice people. A little more money than your typical fast Chinese restaurant, but the foods quality is much better. Hot and sour soup and dragon phoenix are two of my favorites. They also have a frequent diners club that gives $10 for every $100 spent.

We were excited about trying Chen's after the great Yelp reviews. We were really disappointed. The hot & sour soup was neither hot or sour. It was greasy and flavorless. The fried dumplings were good, no complaints. We had the sesame chicken and another combo dish and they were lack luster and the sauces tasted like they came out of the same jar. One dish wasn't really that hot (temperature). Sorry to say we won't be going back.

Hubby and I went for lunch on a Sunday. The time frame for being able to order the combination dinners was a little confusing on the menu, so I tried asking for clarification from the waitress. Her English was a little difficult to understand, but it appeared that we were allowed to order from the combination dinner selection for what is usually (at most Chinese restaurants) a little less expensive than ordering entrees, soup, egg rolls, etc. separately. She asked us if we wanted soup or egg roll and pork fried rice. We assumed that since the menu stated that those items accompanied the entrees, we were getting a combination price. Well, we were surprised when we received our bill. She charged us for the entrees, and then also for the soup, the egg roll, and the pork fried rice, SEPARATELY! With one tea and one Sprite, our bill was nearly $30! For lunch! I wanted to challenge the bill, but my husband isn't the confrontational type, so we paid our bill and left. Not happy. The entrees were just okay. The hot & sour soup was flavorless. My husband added soy sauce and hot mustard to it just so it was worth eating. Otherwise, it just tasted like thickened beef broth. The egg roll was VERY doughy. The pork fried rice didn't have one single piece of pork in it. After reading what were otherwise pretty good reviews of this place, we were very disappointed. We will NOT be returning.

We had 4 orders of Peking duck and it was disappointing. Not even regular Chinese food.Flavors missing .Waiters not understanding orders. .Hoped for something so much better. We were going for over a year and hoping it would get better and it did not. The Peking duck was the last straw. Will not be back for a long time if ever.

Was so impressed the first visit I had to try it again to make sure it wasn't just a fluke. Second tome was just as good as the first. Great food. Excellent service. Vary clean. Don't miss out on this place if you like Chinese food!

We had a group of about 20 enjoy dinner here tonight. The facility was very clean and well appointed. Even the rest rooms were well maintained. A very nice menu provided many options for those attending. Only one negative reaction was voiced that had an odd spice combination that no one seemed to care for. My wife and I enjoyed selections from the steamed vegetable shrimp and chicken combinations. Everything was fine. I also had a hot and sour soup which i would rank in the top five of those I have had in the past.

Better than average Chinese food. Located in strip mall it is above above average ambiance. The food is very good and mid-priced. Rarely crowded this is a very good choice for Chinese food in the area.

We went here for take out based on the other reviews. Thanks YELP! We were not disappointed. The man got Pork Egg Foo Young, Pan Fried Dumplings, and 2 Egg Rolls. Ok, he ate my egg roll too. I got shrimp with cashews. First we went there to check it out and then place our order. Clean place. Greeted immediately by a pleasant smiling woman. Took our order. Told us 15 mins ( insert joke here) we went to pet store. Returned to restaurant food was ready. Place was busy on a Tuesday evening, btw. A few booths, a few tables and all full ... Way past the "early bird" hour too ; ). Food aroma was making me very hungry on ride home. Hoping it did not disappoint. No, it was yummy. First, he said the dumplings were great. Must have been 'cause I don't recall any sharing going on...hmmm. Stated there was a nice sear on outside but the inside was tender. Good flavor. The egg foo young had a nice texture and good flavor too. Stated this was the best take out Chinese since we moved to Florida. The shrimp dish was pretty good nice flavor with a hint of heat.

I love this Chinese restaurant. Friendly people and the most important thing is fresh food. The sauces are nice and fresh. Their tofu entrees are delicious, good flavor. I eat there very often and always pleased with their food and I am very picky with food, especially with Chinese food. If it not good I stay home and make it myself but Chen's food is well made. I recommend anyone to come here.

This restaurant is consistently inconsistent. Depending on the day, the food can be a meaty phenomenal dream come true. But on a day like today it was a vegetable saturated soupy slop. I would love to love this restaurant but I just can't because I never know what I'll end up with. When I order American Chinese food I expect something more than just a can of mixed vegetables opened on top of a few strips of beef in a lackluster sauce.

My son loves Chinese food. We usually eat it at least twice a month. Chen's had such good reviews we thought we'd try it. We ordered honey chicken and pepper steak combos with small wonton soup. The soup was very bland as was the fried rice. We upgraded to spring rolls for a dollar more. Sorry to say they were not very good either. We usually go to china town on Handcock Bridge Parkway. We will try somewhere else next time! Plus, it was $25.00 a little high for Chinese food and just two dinners.

I love this place! I'm 8 months pregnant and it's the only full plate of food I will eat. I also have been in search of a good Orange Chicken for years and this place delivered. Great dinner specials available all the time. The atmosphere inside is very nice and top notch, I have been to other Chinese places in Cape that have been disgusting but not Chen's.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
